POS Charges Per Transaction in the UAE: What You Pay

What does a POS actually cost per transaction in the UAE? It depends on which of three separate charges you mean. Mixing them up is why quotes are so hard to compare.

1. The software subscription

This is what you pay the POS company. Plans are usually a monthly fee per business, sometimes per device or user. Pause POS charges a flat monthly plan: Starter AED 99, Growth AED 199 and Business AED 399 (excl. 5% VAT), with 50% off the first 3 months, plus a one-time on-site setup of AED 499 (free with a yearly plan). We do not take a cut of your sales.

2. Card processing fees

When a customer pays by card, your bank or payment provider charges its own rate. Pause POS does not process card payments, so these fees are set by whoever supplies your card machine and merchant account. Rates, minimum fees and settlement times vary, so ask your bank for the full schedule in writing before you sign.

Useful questions:

  • What is the rate for local and international cards?
  • Is there a monthly minimum or terminal rental fee?
  • How many days until the money reaches my account?

3. Delivery app commissions

If you sell through delivery apps, they charge their own commission on each order. That has nothing to do with your POS subscription.

Adding it up

For a small shop, a simple monthly estimate is: software plan + card fees on card sales + any terminal rental. Devices are separate: you can use a tablet or laptop you already own, and Pause POS works with an Epson TM-m30 series network printer.

Compare like with like

When two vendors quote different prices, check whether the quote includes setup, hardware, card processing and support, and whether the price is per device or per business.
