Is the AI PDPL-compliant for UAE retail data?
Yes. Pause POS uses two deployment paths: (1) Ollama running on your own server for fully on-premise inference with zero data leaving your network, or (2) Azure OpenAI in the UAE region with zero data-retention endpoints. We never send data to public OpenAI or third-party APIs outside the UAE.
Can the AI generate product descriptions in Arabic and English together?
Yes. One click generates both an Arabic and an English description, matched for tone and length, ready for your POS catalog and online store.
What is semantic POS search, and how is it different from keyword search?
Semantic search understands the intent behind a query. A cashier types "red Nike sneaker size 42" and the system matches it to the right SKU even if the product name is stored as "Air Max 90 Red — EU 42". It uses AI embeddings, not exact string matching.
Do I need technical staff to set up the AI module?
No. The setup wizard in Pause POS lets you choose Ollama (one-click Docker) or Azure OpenAI (paste your API key). Most retailers are live in under 30 minutes.
Does the AI work offline?
Yes, when you choose Ollama on-premise, all AI features (description generation, categorization, search) work fully offline — even with no internet at the till.
